An unnamed European director heads to a northern Italian to premiere his latest film. There, he meets a local writer and fosters a desire to turn her work into a film. The urgency to do so makes him meditate on his latest production, his connection with his star performers (and the relationship between them, reminiscent of same-sex duos promoted in queer Hollywood films, such as Keanu Reeves and River Phoenix) and the politics of adaptation.
